Fissures

Let me introduce to you exactly what 'fissures'are. As children our parents take us for our 6 monthly check up at the dentist. Most of you would have experienced some sort of dental treatment, specially those of you from the UK. Our teeth are designed in such an ergonomical way, in order to have full use of function thus, we have use of speech and mastication.
Our teeth have what we call cusps (these are the bumpy parts of the anatomy of our teeth). The grooves inbetween our teeth are fissures, some are very deep and some are not so. Each of us have a different dentition both anatomically and aesthetically.

Most children and some adults have what we call in dentistry, fissure sealents. These sealents protect from caries/decay. They are a surface filling (no drill is used).
Your thoughts may be pondering right about now on why I am blogging on such a strange topic of dentistry, but think about what I am saying in your own mind and continue to read my blog.
